Miss Rosie
About the Job
SUPPORTING. 70s. Jules's mother, and a strange, uncanny presence. Small in frame but steel-backed, she wears dark glasses under a gray sky and keeps her face turned upward toward nothing in particular. Blind, and never without her guide dog Samantha. Her grief has transmuted into something wild. She blames Hagar for breaking and abandoning her son, and when Hagar comes home, Miss Rosie erupts: arching back, baring her teeth, flinging her rage at the sky in an outburst that borders on the supernatural. But beneath the fury is a mother sitting up all night beside a shrine to her boy, waiting for him to come home. A bizarre, highly physical role. (Actor will be portraying blindness safely; works with a live guide dog.)
